Completions Technology Specialist

Darby Witt is the Completions Technology Specialist with Cordax based in Houston.  Darby has 23 years of experience with oil field services work and advisory solutions.  Darby’s career has been focused on improving decision making through the application of experienced engineering principles and the development of innovative and unique solutions.  Prior to accepting the position with Cordax, Darby has served the industry as President of Witt Petroleum Advisors (WPA) offering real-time fracture evaluation, DFIT analysis, fracture modeling and completion related data evaluation services.  Before creating WPA in 2016, Darby was previously in various management roles of Humble, TX based NUTECH where he formed the completion engineering team in 2003.  At NUTECH, Darby developed proprietary products and processes to link formation evaluations to well completion results in a predictive manner which allowed for completion optimization to occur efficiently and field reservoir understanding to be achieved.  The business units established and managed by Darby were responsible for over $30 million in commercial sales and averaged over 50 well completion related products per month.  Prior to 2003, Darby served as Technical Advisor to Halliburton Energy Services in Oklahoma City.  At HAL Darby provided sales and technical services to a variety of oil and natural gas operators based in the Mid-Continent region and with properties all over the U.S.  At HAL Darby supported the business development effort through the advance of several workflow and completion design processes as a member of the Midcontinent Technical Team. As a member of the Tech Team Darby drove the efforts to attack an $80 MM/yr. high pressure pumping market by implementing new technology resulting in an increase in market share for HAL from 15% to 44%.  Before his Tech Team role, at HAL Darby worked in various field operations engineering roles focused on the Arkoma and Anadarko basins.  Here he supported hydraulic fracturing, acidizing, cementing, coiled tubing, conformance, and oil field tool services.  At HAL, Darby participated in the design and execution of over 5,000 well completions, while personally supervising over 500 hydraulic fracturing treatments for customers throughout North America.  

Darby has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma and was raised in the Oklahoma City area.
