Global Corporate Controller

Join a dynamic environment with a collaborative, driven team and organization that provides oilfield services in North America and abroad from its Calgary Global Support Center.  This position is a hands-on role that requires strategic problem-solving skills and purposeful organization with a “can do” attitude.  Your years of experience combined with your results-oriented willingness and determination to see things through from the big picture to the smallest degree of detail and ability to independently and proactively complete tasks no matter how big or small on a timely basis will be key.

 

The corporate controller will report to the CFO and manage 2 direct reports, global accounting clerk (Calgary office) and US accounting clerk or administrator (Oklahoma City office).

 

Accountabilities include:

  • Develop intimate knowledge of accounting software system, Navision, and manipulate it produce useful financial reports

  • Review and oversight of daily accounting

  • Month end, quarter end, and year end journal entries

  • Monthly management reporting using Navision and excel. Run excel models in parallel to Navision to manipulate the data in Navision as necessary to produce useful and timely management reporting

  • Quarterly and annual reporting for management and the board

  • Develop and implement meaningful and useful accounting and reporting to evaluate results and support business decisions for the company

  • Develop forecasting and budgeting process and reports

  • Prepare annual consolidated USD IFRS financial statements using Navision and excel

  • Indirect and commodity tax compliance

  • Review and manage AR and AP accounting

  • Develop and implement policies, processes, and procedures for the company.  Rollout and teach to organization to make accounting and meaningful reporting more seamless and successful

  • Use the current asset management and job tracking software for accounting and reporting purposes including connecting it to the accounting and financial reporting software and process

  • Payroll and related policies and processes including personnel requirements

  • Banking and treasury support

  • Intercompany accounting and reconciliations

  • Foreign currency translations, reconciliations, and reporting

  • Cash flow analysis and reporting

  • Manage external financial statement audit

  • Assist with corporate income tax compliance

  • Research and development grant applications

  • Collaborate with and support the CFO and the organization to facilitate the success and growth of the business while reducing and mitigating risk with a positive attitude

  

Position Requirements:

We are looking for a results-oriented individual focused on collaborating with, guiding, and supporting the rest of the company’s team to ensure success.  The individual will have: 

  • Accounting designation and 5+ years relevant experience or undergraduate degree in commerce (or related field) and 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with attention to setting and meeting deadlines

  • Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, relationship management skills

  • Intellectual curiosity to identify root causes and ability to work collaboratively and efficiently toward a common solution

  • Ability to improve and implement processes efficiently within the company’s specific needs and resources

  • Accounting software experience. Navision experience is a big asset

  • Strong excel skills and ability to use excel in parallel with/to manipulate data from accounting software

  • Working knowledge of IFRS

  • Working knowledge of consolidation and foreign currency

  • Ability to guide, coach, and collaborate with junior finance staff
